On the morning of October 5, 2025, the University of Economics and Law, Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City (UEL) solemnly held the Opening Ceremony and Orientation for the first intake of doctoral and master’s students in 2025, welcoming 25 doctoral candidates and 257 master’s students admitted to the following majors and specialisations: Economics, Public Economics and Management, Political Economy, International Economics, Accounting, Finance and Banking, Financial Technology, Business Administration, and E-Commerce.
After the university-wide ceremony, the newly admitted postgraduate students attended faculty-level academic orientations organized by their respective departments.

At Room B1.302, new master’s students and doctoral candidates of the Faculty of Economics specializing in Economics, Public Economics and Management, and major in Political Economy had an opportunity to meet and exchange with the Faculty Board.
On behalf of the Faculty Board, Dr. Trinh Hoang Hong Hue – Acting Vice Dean of the Faculty of Economics warmly congratulated all new learners and introduced the history, development, and academic orientation of the Faculty in the context of higher education innovation.
Dr. Hue also emphasized key academic and administrative regulations for postgraduate training, including program duration, foreign language proficiency requirements, proposal development and defense procedures, and publication standards—particularly the mandatory research publication requirements for doctoral candidates before thesis defense.
Following that, Dr. Nguyen Dinh Binh – Vice Dean of the Faculty of Economics, shared insights on research orientation and essential academic competencies required for postgraduate study. He highlighted the importance of developing critical thinking, independent research capacity, and scientific data analysis skills, aligned with the Faculty’s key research directions such as Digital Economy, Green Economy, Innovation, and Sustainable Development.

To further support students in developing research and academic skills, the Faculty of Economics collaborated with the UEL Library to organize a training session titled “Information Literacy Skills in Learning and Research Environments.” During the session, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hue – Librarian at UEL, guided students on how to effectively utilize the UEL Digital Library, the VNU-HCM Library System, and the EBSCO Discovery Service (EDS) – an integrated academic search platform. Participants were introduced to techniques in academic information retrieval, evaluation, and citation, serving their study, research, and thesis writing processes. The session helped enhance students’ information literacy and digital competencies for postgraduate education.

The Postgraduate Orientation 2025 of the Faculty of Economics took place in a warm, open, yet professional and academically focused atmosphere. The Faculty Board extended its best wishes to all new students, encouraging them to be proactive, innovative, and dedicated in their studies and research, thereby contributing to the continued development of the Faculty of Economics and the University of Economics and Law.
