Following the directive from the Board of Rectors of the University of Economics and Law (UEL) to foster engagement between faculty and incoming students, the Faculty of Economics hosted a Welcome and Scholarship Ceremony on August 26, 2024, at Hall A, UEL.

The event was attended by:

• The Faculty’s leadership team

• Professors and lecturers

• Alumni

• Student Union and Youth Union representatives

• Club leaders

• And over 250 new students from Cohort 24

Words of Welcome

On behalf of the Faculty, Dr. Nguyễn Đình Bình, Vice Dean, congratulated the 269 new students on officially joining the Faculty of Economics family. He expressed gratitude to students and parents for choosing the Faculty as the place to pursue their academic and professional aspirations.

Dr. Bình emphasized the Faculty’s 24-year legacy of excellence and reaffirmed the commitment of all faculty members to accompany students in their journey of personal growth and knowledge creation.

To help students and parents better understand the Faculty, Dr. Bình also introduced:

• The organizational structure and academic staff

• Achievements of faculty and students in recent years

• Career opportunities available to graduates of the Faculty of Economics

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyễn Chí Hải, former Dean, shared valuable advice on academic success and personal development with the new students.

Student Q&A and Faculty Engagement

During the interactive session, students raised questions about:

• Internship and practical training opportunities

• Domestic and international student exchange programs

• Scholarship options from the university and external organizations

• Research activities for undergraduate students

Faculty members, including Dr. Phạm Mỹ Duyên (Head of Public Economics and Management) and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Đỗ Phú Trần Tình (Head of Economics), provided direct answers and guidance, helping students gain clarity on their academic paths at UEL.

Honoring Top Entrants and Supporting Students in Need

To recognize outstanding achievements in the 2024 university entrance exam, the Faculty awarded scholarships to top scorers:

1. Đỗ Thị Vân Anh (K24401B) – Top scorer in Economics via national high school exam: 26.45 points

2. Trương Ngọc Mai (K24401A) – Top scorer in Economics via VNU-HCM Aptitude Test: 912 points

3. Trịnh Đức Thuận (K24403B) – Top scorer in Public Economics via national high school exam: 27.1 points

4. Nguyễn Hoàng Bảo Ngọc (K24403A) – Top scorer in Public Economics via VNU-HCM Aptitude Test: 879 points

In addition, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyễn Hồng Nga and Mr. Nguyễn Nhật Long, representing alumni from class K10403, awarded scholarships to students facing financial hardship.

Celebrating their 10-year graduation anniversary, alumni from class K10403 returned to their alma mater and donated 10 scholarships worth 4 million VND each to support new students in need. This meaningful gift reflects the enduring bond between generations of Economics students.

A Warm and Festive Gathering

As part of the program, Mr. Nguyễn Nhật Hào, Deputy Secretary of the Faculty Youth Union, introduced student activities and welcomed new members to the Faculty’s dynamic community, including: Youth Union, Student Union, Economics

In the event, new students of the FE also raised many questions related to studying methods, conducting scientific research, attending extracurriculars and all questions were satisfyingly answered by FE lectures.
