In education program of Universities which are related to Economics and Business Administration, foundation courses play a strongly important role in creating basic knowledge to get knowledge from specific courses effectively. Among these foundation courses, Microeconomics and Macroeconomics are firstly listed.
Being aware of this importance in education program, Faculty of Economics has continuously enhanced the quality of teaching in Economics subjects through a number of approaches such as academic staff development, teaching method’s reform, matching of teaching and scientific research, etc.
On November 11th 2014, in an effort to improve teaching quality of Economics courses, Faculty of Economics held a seminar on topic: Enhancing teaching quality of Economics courses for Faculty of Economics.
There were 22 essays sent to the Seminar. The essays on all-sided assessment of teaching quality of Economics subjects in Faculty of Economics concentrating on these aspects: (i) Syllabus construction of Economics , (ii) Teaching methods, (iii) Current textbooks using in the Faculty. In addition, some essays and speeches of attendants showed the difficulties of lecturers in teaching Economics courses, the causes of these difficulties and proposed solutions to improve.
Moreover, there were 3 essays intensively presented and discussed at the seminar: (i) Enhancing teaching quality of Economics courses of higher education at University of Economics and Law from the writers: Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Chi Hai and M.A Pham Thi Ha Nguyen; (ii) Positive teaching method of Economics courses at University of Economics and Law from the writers: M.A Huynh Thi Ly Na and M.A Nguyen Thi Thu Trang; (iii) Enhancing effect in teaching Economics courses through exercise and essay to match theory and practical from M.A Nguyen Thanh Huyen.
The seminar was also an opportunity for lecturers from Faculty of Economics and representatives from other faculties to discuss and show their point of views to enhance teaching quality of Economics subjects at Faculty of Economics and other faculties as well.
