Seminar on Scientific Research for Students of the Faculty of Economics in 2021

At 8:30 am on August 30, 2021, the Faculty of Economics successfully organized an online seminar on scientific research for students in the academic year 2021 - 2022 with the participation of:

- Master Nguyen Anh Tuan – Deputy Head of Graduate School and Science and Technology Department
- Dr. Pham My Duyen – Vice Dean of Faculty of Economics
- Dr. Trinh Hoang Hong Hue, Master Huynh Ngoc Chuong, and Master Bui Hong Ngoc – Lecturer of the Faculty of Economics
- Alumnus Nguyen Dat Thinh, graduate student majoring in Quantitative Economics, Kiel University, Germany
- Student Dao Viet Thanh, class K19401C, representing the group of students who won the first prize in Scientific Research Contest for Students at the university level in 2020 - 2021

Master Huynh Ngoc Chuong presented the topic 'Searching for research topics'. Through this topic, it would be easier for the students to choose the right research topics. Besides, Mr. Chuong also gave some advice in the process of conducting the research, such as how to allocate time appropriately, regularly contact the instructors to keep the project on schedule.

Dr. Trinh Hoang Hong Hue presented the topic 'Finding sources of documents and data in scientific research', introducing reputable websites to find documents as well as indicators to evaluate the quality of documents, and how to systematize documents by using useful tools such as semantic scholar, connected paper. In addition, Dr. Hue also provided information on data types as well as useful ways to collect data from official sources to serve for research. Alumni Nguyen Dat Thinh shared some useful tools when doing scientific research such as reputable sources of data and documents. Thinh also conducted a small survey for students attending the seminar to provide some information about scientific research from the students' perspective.

On behalf of the group of students who won the first prize in scientific research for students in 2020-2021 at the university level, group leader Dao Viet Thanh shared the motivation for doing scientific research, the common difficulties in the process of doing scientific research, and how to solve those difficulties. Thanh emphasized the discipline and sense of responsibility of the team members, as well as how to arrange a reasonable time during the project implementation to keep up with the set schedule. With a passion for research as well as the experience of the group, Thanh's sharing was really useful for students involved in scientific research.

Master Nguyen Anh Tuan – Deputy Head of Graduate School and Science and Technology Department expressed his feelings after attending the seminar on Student’s Scientific Research 2021 organized by the Faculty of Economics.

Next was the Q&A session in which students asked questions and the teachers answered questions so that they could better understand scientific research. The discussion was lively. The students asked many questions related to the research topic, difficulties in the process of doing scientific research, data sources, issues to note for students who just started doing scientific research.

The seminar ended at 11:55 a.m. on August 30, 2021.

Through the interest of a large number of students, the serious spirit of participating and conducting scientific research of the faculty’s students could be seen in the academic year 2021 - 2022.
