Admission Requirements

 Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent or higher qualification) in a relevant major. For the research-oriented program, applicants must have a good or higher academic classification or scientific publications related to the major. The list of relevant majors is provided in the detailed program.

 Applicants must demonstrate a foreign language proficiency equivalent to Level 3 or higher on the Vietnamese 6-level framework or take a placement test if not yet qualified.

Admission Method

Admission is based on an entrance competency assessment.

Program Objectives

The Master of Economics in Economics Program, with specializations in Economics and Public Economics and Management, aims to equip learners with advanced knowledge and professional skills in economics, management, and public policy to meet the demands of the modern era. Learners will be capable of conducting independent or collaborative research, with creativity and the ability to identify and solve problems in the fields of Public Economics and Management.

Graduates of the program are expected to possess the following qualifications and professional competencies:

Advanced knowledge in economics and its subfields in the public sector.

The ability to analyze, design, advise, critique, and implement socio-economic policies, public investment projects, and public service provision.

The ability to forecast behaviors and manage economic activities in both the public and private sectors.

Independent and creative thinking skills in addressing economic problems, with high adaptability in changing professional contexts.

Lifelong learning capacity, independent research capability, and strong sense of responsibility toward self, family, and society.

Expected Learning Outcomes

Knowledge: Apply general and field-specific knowledge; apply specialized knowledge of Economics to solve and advise on economic issues, predict the behavior of economic agents and policy impacts on businesses, localities, regions, and the nation; apply knowledge in Public Economics and Management to urban, regional, and interregional economic governance and policy consulting on public decisions.

Skills: Analytical, evaluative, and critical thinking skills; policy design and consulting skills; project appraisal and development skills; qualitative and quantitative analysis skills for problem-solving and decision-making.

PART III: PROGRAMME STRUCTURE AND ASSESSMENT

Duration

 Standard duration: 24 months

 Maximum duration: Not to exceed twice the standard duration of the program

 

Program Structure

Total: 60 credits, excluding foreign language requirement

 General knowledge: 7 credits (Semester 1)

 Fundamental knowledge: 15 credits (Semesters 1–2)

 Specialized knowledge: 23 credits (Semesters 2–3)

 Master’s thesis: 15 credits (Semester 4)
